Open Wings Learning Community ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our students' families, staff, donors, and website visitors. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visitopenwingslearning.org or otherwise interact with the school.
1. Information we collect
- Information you provide directly: for example, your name, email address, phone number, and any details you share when requesting a tour, contacting us, applying for a job, or making a donation.
- Information collected automatically: basic technical information (such as IP address and browser type) that our hosting provider processes as a normal part of delivering web pages, and any display preferences you set on the site itself (see "Cookies and other technology" below).
2. How we use your information
We use the information you provide to:
- Respond to tour requests, general inquiries, and job applications.
- Process donations, through our payment processor, Stripe.
- Maintain and improve the website.
We do not use your information for advertising.
3. Sharing of information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who help us operate the school or the website (for example, Stripe processes donation payments), and only with what they need to do that job.
- When required by law, such as to comply with a legal process or a government request.
How tour, contact, and job-application requests work today:these pages currently open your own email application with a message pre-filled, addressed directly to the relevant Open Wings staff member. Your message goes straight from your email account to ours; it does not pass through our website's servers or any third party. If this changes to a server-processed form in the future, we will update this section to reflect that.
4. Data security
We take reasonable precautions to protect the information you share with us. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your rights
You may contact us at any time to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Request that we correct or delete inaccurate or outdated information.
- Ask us to stop contacting you.
We will respond to reasonable requests as quickly as we can.
6. Children's privacy
Open Wings serves students from kindergarten through high school, and this website is intended for parents, guardians, and other adults, not for direct use by children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without a parent or guardian's involvement. Information about a prospective or enrolled student (for example, on a tour-request form) is provided to us by a parent or guardian, at their discretion. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us directly, please contact us and we will address it.
7. Cookies and other technology
This website does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics trackers. It does use:
- Local storage for display preferences. If you choose a dark, light, or high-contrast display mode, that choice is saved on your own device only, using your browser's local storage. It is never sent to us or anyone else, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.
- Embedded third-party content. Our calendar page embeds a Google Calendar, and our locations page embeds Google Maps. These embeds are operated by Google, not by us, and Google's own privacy practices apply to them (Google Privacy Policy).
- Payment processing for donations. Our donate page hands off to Stripe's own secure, hosted checkout page. We do not see, process, or store your card information; Stripe's privacy policy applies to that transaction (Stripe Privacy Policy).
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, our website, or applicable law. We will note significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page.
