Admissions

Let's find out if Open Wings is right for your child

There's no deadline and no pressure. Applications are welcome any time of year, and the best first step is simply to come see us. Here's how joining Open Wings works, and how we help make it affordable.

How admissions works

A calm, human process, not a gauntlet. Five steps, at your family's pace.

  1. Reach out

Tell us a little about your child and the campus nearest you, and we'll set up a time to visit. There's no application fee to start a conversation.

  2. Visit, and two shadow days

You tour the school, and your child spends two days learning alongside us. Those shadow days take the place of a formal interview, so everyone can feel whether Open Wings is the right fit.

  3. Apply

Submit your application materials whenever you're ready. Applications are welcome any time of year, so you're never waiting on a deadline.

  4. A decision within two weeks

Once we have your complete materials and the shadow days are done, we'll get back to you within two weeks.

  5. Enroll and belong

We welcome your family, get to know your child, and help them settle in ready to learn.

Making it affordable

We accept the Wisconsin Special Needs Scholarship Program (SNSP). Most of our families use this state-funded voucher, which covers a significant portion of tuition. For eligible students, the remaining family cost is modest, and we work with every family to make it manageable.

Open Wings is a nonprofit, and tuition is co-funded through grants and our community. The school currently invests about $22,000 per student in an average class of six, with two adults in every room, named research-based curricula, and ISACS-accredited instruction. That investment buys something specific: a level of individual attention and measurable growth that larger programs cannot match.

  • Wisconsin Special Needs Scholarship (SNSP)

Open Wings accepts the SNSP, a state-funded voucher for eligible students with disabilities. This scholarship covers a significant portion of tuition, and most of our families use it.

  • Income-based adjustments

For the remaining balance beyond the scholarship, we offer income-based tuition adjustments. Cost should never be the reason a child misses the right school. Talk to us.

For current tuition rates, SNSP eligibility, and what your family would actually pay after the scholarship, contact the office. We walk every family through it personally.
